I’ve been lucky enough to have been involved in the housing business since the early 1970s when I landed a job as a carpenter’s apprentice. One thing led to another, and I eventually founded a residential construction firm that later included a real estate component. In 1993, I sold McPheeters Construction to several of its employees, and went full-time into the Real Estate industry, teaming up with and eventually owning OceanView Properties. Since that time, OceanView Properties has consistently been the top-selling company in Biddeford, and among the top five in Northern York County. The real estate business has been a wonderful ride for me. I have been fortunate in the people I have met and the success I have had in helping with their real estate needs.
I’ve also been very fortunate to have been married to my ever patient wife Eve since 1980. We have two great kids (very adult kids at this point) and two perfect grandchildren. Family gatherings are the highlights of my life.
Over the years, I’ve been in leadership positions at Waynflete School in Portland, Union Church in Biddeford Pool, the Maine Historical Society, the Biddeford Pool Community Center, Biddeford Pool Improvement Association, the Maine Board of The Trust for Public Lands, and the Biddeford Pool Yacht Club. In recent years I’ve been very proud of my leadership role in raising the funds and guiding the purchase of the former Marie Joseph property in Biddeford Pool, helping to keep that amazing 22 acre oceanfront parcel forever wild, in the caring hands of the Biddeford Pool Conservation Trust.
I have always been happiest around the water, and have sailed many long distance passages and races to Nova Scotia, Bermuda, the Galapagos, around the Cape of Good Hope, and transatlantic to Ireland. If I'm not selling real estate, I can often be found sailing or rowing around somewhere on the coast of Maine.
